Excellent piece, Arshy. I had been meaning to subscribe for a while, but this article made me sign up in a heartbeat.
The nationalistic discourse does risk sidelining voices of reconciliation. Mark Carney's emphasis on "using the extraordinary powers of the federal government" and Pierre Poilievre's rhetoric on deregulation don’t give me much hope that reconciliation and collaboration are priorities for either leader-in-waiting. I hope that as we strengthen our national unity through nation-building projects, we ensure all Canadians benefit.
Great to hear Niigaan’s perspective. As a Manitoban and a Winnipegger, I feel immense pride in the people and the work being done in this city every day. Thank you, Arshy and Niigaan—this was a fantastic listen.
